Abbotsford

The first weekend of May the family made one last trip out to Abbotsford before I go back to work. It was a great chance to get my side of the family together and to watch the two girls play together. A lot of the week that we were there consisted of Kianna running after Alyssa trying to touch her and Alyssa crawling away as fast as she could. They were great together and a lot of fun to watch! It was a very nice treat for Kianna to be able to go from inside to outside as often as she wanted. Coming from Edmonton it definitely felt like summer and she had a great time in just her diaper. We look forward to getting a new house with a fenced back yard so that she can have that freedom at home.

And of course what would a trip out to Abbotsford be without Auntie Kyla... taking care of both girls for us so that we get a break!

Summer is Here

A couple of weeks ago Joe, Kianna and I spent the weekend down in Red Deer and Kianna got her first chance to play at the park with her cousins. By far her favorite was the swing and just walking on the grass and picking up leaves. We also took her down her first slide, first with mom, and then both Madalyn and Rebecca took her also. And finally she jumped on the trampoline for the first time.

Grandma and Grandpa's Visit

Kianna got a new jacket for the spring... it's great for us that she likes it and doesn't fight having it put on.
Here's Kianna helping Grandpa put up the much needed baby gate... little did she know (at that point) what it would be used for.
Grandpa and Kianna spent some time outside in the nice fresh air... you may notice that Grandpa did put her jacket on... but if you look close there are no shoes or socks... good thing grandparents can get away with anything :)
We went to Wendy's for dinner on the last night that Grandma and Grandpa were here and Kianna wanted to learn what a straw was for. She got the concept but hasn't figured out how to suck the pop up yet.

Last week Grandma and Grandpa were able to come out here for a short visit and got a chance to spend lots of time with us and Kianna. Since Kianna is walking now, and getting faster by the day, we enlisted Grandpa's help while they were here to install the baby gate. Now I get a break from chasing her down the hallway every five minutes! Kianna's quickly learned what the gate is and doesn't always appreciate having it closed, but does like to giggle when it's open and she gets a chance to "lock" us into the kitchen area.

More pictures from this past weekend

We had a great Easter weekend; the three of us were able to take a short, but very nice trip down to Chicago to see Grandma and Grandpa Dechtiarenko. Unfortunately Joe could only stay for 2 days, but Kianna and I got to visit with them for a bit longer. It was really great being able to see Joe's parents play and spend time with Kianna... and she sure did love it too.

Swimming Lessons

Today was Kianna's last day of swimming lessons. We definitely have a water baby. She's done very well and really does love the water. Since it was the last day Joe came to watch as well as to take some pictures for us. Because it was the last day of lessons the big treat for all of the kids was that the waves would be on in the pool. Because of that Kianna had to be in her life jacket while we were in the big pool. Luckily she doesn't mind it to much.

Halfway through the class we went into the kiddy pool so that the kids could warm up a little bit. It was fun to have Kianna sit in the shallow water and play as well as sit or stand on the edge and jump into the water. And finally at the end of class Kianna got her first report card and we are proud to say that she passed her first swimming lessons!!!

Look What I Can Do

Well, it's been a while since we've added any new pictures... and in that time Kianna has learned something new. As you can see she has figured out that if she holds on to the kitchen counter she can then climb up the back cushion of the couch to get her hands on whatever is on the counter, or can manage to see who's in the kitchen. She learns things quick and keeps us busy!

One of Kianna's new favorite things to do is to pull down all of her books and "read" to herself. She has lots of fun and can get quite loud and vocal and always leaves a nice little mess for mom and dad to clean up.
